What are the symptoms of colon cancer?

Symptoms of bowel cancer often manifest themselves as changes in defecation habits.

Persistent diarrhea or constipation, thinning of the stool, blood coming from the stool and anus, and the presence of a secretion called mucus similar to egg white in the stool are among the symptoms of colon cancer. When the cancer progresses further, it causes partial or complete obstruction of the intestine, causing complaints such as swelling, pain and vomiting in the abdominal area. Pain and difficulty while defecating, anemia due to iron deficiency, weight loss and formation of a mass in the abdominal area are also symptoms related to colon cancer.

Colon Cancer Treatment

For colon cancer treatment, polyps that may turn into cancer are removed by colonoscopy. If the cancer has reached an advanced stage, surgery becomes mandatory. The part where the tumor is located is removed along with all surrounding lymph nodes. These procedures can be performed by open surgery, laparoscopic surgery or robotic surgery methods.
